Temasek Polytechnic connection will also enjoy time savings when they travel to Toa Payoh, compared to S/59 or by using the MRT.

This service provides a direct connection for Jurong West and East residents to the city centre at basic fares. En route, it stops at Jln Jurong Kechil, where commuters can transfer to other services to Toa Payoh (s/152, s/985), MacRitchie Reservoir and Bishan (s/52), Kolam Ayer and Kallang (s/985). Jln Jurong Kechil residents can transfer to s/150 if they want to by-pass the Bukit Timah corridor while going to the city centre. S/150 also provides a faster alternative for students studying along the Bukit Timah corridor to reach Jln Jurong Kechil, where they can transfer to s/66, 157 and 174.

Service 150
Plies between Boon Lay Temp Int to Marina Ctr. The sector from Boon Lay to Newton Circus remains unchanged. Thereafter, the service is amended to turn into Scotts Rd, Orchard Rd, Bras Basah Rd, Raffles Blvd en-route to Marina Ctr Ter. Jurong West and Jurong East residents will enjoy a direct bus to town.

Service 989
Withdrawn and introduced as Services 987 and 988. Commuters are advised to take a train to Changi Airport and Expo as it results in better time savings due to heavy traffic on the PIE.

Choa Chu Kang Int to Tampines Int via Bt Panjang, BKE, PIE, Toa Payoh, Bedok Reservoir Rd. Provides a fast and direct link for Choa Chu Kang and Bt Panjang residents to Eastern Singapore.

Service 988
Choa Chu Kang Int to Upp East Coast Ter via Bt Batok, Jln Jurong Kechil/Anak Bt, PIE, Toa Payoh, Paya Lebar, Tg Katong, Marine Parade, Upp East Coast Rd. Provides inter-town links between Choa Chu Kang and Bt Batok. Bt Batok residents have a direct connection to Toa Payoh.

To avoid a circuituous journey, passengers travelling from Choa Chu Kang to Marine Parade are advised to take Service 987 and transfer to Service 966 or 988 at Jln Toa Payoh.

Incorporation of Tranx Galaxy

Speech

1 Good morning Minister for Transport, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to the incorporation of Tranx Galaxy.

2 Today, Tranx Galaxy will be incorporated as a multi-modal transport company in Singapore. The company's aim is to provide faster links between housing estates at affordable fares, following the fare structure for normal trunk services approved by the PTC.

3 Tranx Galaxy will officially commence operation on 29 August 2004, Sunday, with the introduction of 2 bus services: service 966, which plies from Woodlands to Marine Parade and service 152, which plies from Boon Lay to Bishan. The first bus will be flagged off at Woodlands and Boon Lay bus interchanges at 10.30am on 29 August 2004 and commuters will enjoy free rides on that day.

4 Tranx Galaxy boasts a full fleet of the newest city buses with Euro 4 emission standards to enhance passenger comfort. For a start, 20 Pininfarina-designed Volvo and Dennis Tridents double-deckers will be deployed on services 966 and 152 along with the 12-metre Mercedes Benz buses. We have also placed orders for 20 units of Wrightbuses and 20 units of Pininfarina-designed Mercedes Benz articulated buses to cater to future services with high demand.

5 The road ahead of Tranx Galaxy is challenging, as we begin to understudy several advanced mass rapid transit systems in the world and recruiting experienced rail operators at the same time. All is done to ensure that the Circle Line will commence operations smoothly in 2006.
